Frequently Asked Questions

We have been working with local operators all over Brazil since our director first started working in incoming travel in 2013, and so have become specialists in all destinations of touristic interest in the country, as well as more off the beatn path destinations we’d be happy to introduce you to. This said, we have also established partnerships with likeminded agencies and operators in neighboring countries, in order to assist with clients’ travel plans throughout South America.
Our services include, but are not limited to: phone calls and email exchanges during the travel planning phase, individualized quote sourcing and negotiations with local tour guides, drives and accommodations, flight and travel insurance bookings, meal arrangements, ticket purchases, and other bookings of interest to our travelers. All trips booked with us also include third party liability insurance, meaning we have you covered in case any of our local providers don’t come through on their services. Also, trips booked with us include a 24 hour concierge and support service with our own team, where you’ll have access to at least two of our staff to assist with anything from booking a last minute reservation, to tips on where to eat, or even over the phone translations when you are having trouble communicating with a non-English speaker. We will also make sure you get all the perks you deserve, from room up-grades to complimentary meals and transfers where possible.
Some agencies will choose from a “menu” of options for your trip, and this can be done quickly, but may not always provide the necessary nuances your itinerary deserves. That is not our case – we’ll take the necessary time to create a truly special itinerary for you, which you can use as a model for your travels, saving you hours of planning on your end, whether you book with us or not, and so our itinerary planning is a service in itself. Just as you’d pay a planning or design fee to an interior designer, or architect, or wedding planner, to create something uniquely yours, and then use their networks to execute the actual services, a dedicated travel designer at Viare will plan a unique trip for you. If you book with us, you’ll get the benefit of our network, rates, and peace-of-mind whilst traveling. If in the end you decide not to book your trip with us, you will still get a beautiful itinerary with lots of insider insights and a detailed day-by-day plan, and this way, everyone wins.
Our fees range from US$20-US$50/day/person for a total of up to 3 itinerary modifications, and will depend on the range of services you’d like us to plan for you and the number of people in your party. For less complex trips, where most of your stay will be in lodges with activities included in their services, you’ll look at a lower end of the range. For trips with more individual activity bookings and multiple flights, we will be looking at the higher range. Each trip modification is when we present you with an itinerary and you request changes made. Anything past your 4th trip itinerary will result in additional fees. Since we are very conscious of how much work will be going in to each itinerary, and know your time and money is valuable, we will gauge this fee responsibly, sending you a proposal for planning after our initial chat or email exchange.
Traveling to Brazil can be as safe, and as dangerous, as traveling to any other country where you may not know the language, or may be unfamiliar with certain customs. In general, our locals love to welcome tourists from all over the world. This said, Brazil a country which struggles in some of its destinations with unnerving levels of local violence, including violence against our majority black population, women and those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Here you will find instances of petty theft against tourists, and other schemes to rob unassuming travelers. This said, I could say the same thing about traveling to the United States, Argentina, France, Spain, South Africa, amongst others – and these are all destinations which welcome thousands of tourists each year as well. Brazil is a country where you will feel safe throughout much of your trip, and we will help you, by educating you on where it is safe to walk in the evenings, and where you’d be better off taking a taxi places. We’ll advice you not to leave your things unattended on the beach, and to not book last minute tours with unaccredited tour guides. We’ll also tell you to maybe leave your expensive jewelry at home, and to be cautious with expensive cameras on excursions in the bigger cities. We can’t tell you how safe it is to travel to Brazil, but we can tell you most of our clients are pleasantly surprised at how safe they feel when they do arrive to Brazil, and how comfortable they feel with our many hosts spread across the country.
Unfortunately we are not equipped with legal counsel in order to assist with visa applications. This said, we are happy to write a letter of booking confirmation in Portuguese or English for all travelers who have booked trips with us and need visas in order to travel to Brazil.
